The opportunity
Leduc County is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Utilities Technician to join our team. Reporting to the Team Lead – Utilities Technician, this exciting opportunity assists with the delivery of water distribution and wastewater programs within the County. As a member of the Utilities team, the Utilities Technician supports the achievement of the department’s operational deliverables.

You enjoy the outdoors and can handle frequent physical effort such as lifting, moving or pulling heavy objects on a regular basis. You are currently enrolled in water and wastewater certification programs and are looking to gain hands-on experience in the industry.

A high school diploma, enrollment in an Environmental Program and working toward certification in Water Distribution Certification (Level I) and Waste Water Collection Certification (Level I), proficiency with Microsoft Office and confined Space Entry and Monitor, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), Standard First Aid, hydrogen sulfide (H2S Alive) courses (or willing to obtain). An Alberta Class 5 driver’s license and the ability to obtain security and health clearance at the Edmonton International Airport is also required.
Experience in the operation and maintenance of municipal water, wastewater, and solid waste infrastructure and working with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Geographic Information System (GIS) are assets.

We offer a competitive hourly salary of between $18.49 and $23.79, This opportunity is seasonal full-time and is 40 hours per week scheduled Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. with the possibly of some extended hours to meet operational requirements.
The office is located at 101-1101 5 St. Nisku, AB.
